I grew up being told, and believing, that because Christianity spread so fast around the world, it was proof, or at least good evidence, of its beauty and good and value. And that did make a lot of sense.

But, as I've grown, and read more books, I've realized there's another pretty good option. Christianity spread around the world because it used violence, fear, power, and every other fire that burns civilization in the name of good.

Sadly, that one feels more right.
