The more people believe in a violent god who sends people to suffer, the more they support a justice system that supports retributive violence as well. In other words, you believe in hell, you've got no issue with solitary confinement because suffering (approved by your god) is part of justice.

But before you get too cocky, without ANY suffering? Even the family member who is an asshole? The parents who screwed up? The partner?
